The SummaCut S2 D160 is an advanced vinyl cutter which has been designed to operate in busy production facilities. It makes a very compelling investment case for companies printing high quantities of stickers, labels, vehicle wraps and wall & interior décor.

It benefits from all the advanced features of Summa’s class leading S2 series platform but uses a more cost effective drag cutting head instead of the Tangential head found on it’s more expensive stable mate the S2 T series.

How does the S2 D160 cut so accurately?

The cutter uses advanced optical positioning technology (OPOS X) to achieve greater cutting accuracy. The cutting head use a built in sensor to read registration marks on the media that is being cut. This reduces the effect of media deformations and misalignments and avoids cutting errors so repeat prints and additional cutting are avoided.

It can print on a varied range of materials and applications including holographic, reflective, or mirroring materials, and on the many different types of modern laminates. It exerts cutting pressure up to 400 grams.

High levels of productivity

The S Class D series is the cutter of choice for companies requiring a productive cutter at an affordable price. Some of its performance is achieved through it’s speed and accuracy but other factors such as it’s extensive features and ease of use combine to increase productivity. These include:

• A new processor which is seven times faster than the model it supercedes.
• Highly effective integration with large format printers resulting from a new trim and sheet cut function.
• Acceleration of up to 5.5 G diagonal
• Speed up to 141 cm/sec diagonal.
• A dual servomotor for speed and accuracy.
• Fast programming and access to eight user configurations via a simple to use large touch screen.
• OptiCut  - simulates tangential cutting. Overtime there will be changes to the blade set caused by wear and tear, OptiCut compensates for this and makes sure the knife is orientated correctly so that cutting is always accurate during the blades' life span.
• OverCut - extends the vector at the beginning and at the end of a curve. This ensures the design is cut through completely. Without the OverCut function, the cut line may not be completely closed, causing difficulties when weeding.
• The cutting head has been engineered to include an automatic cut-off knife, which can be selected as an option to slice your media at the end of each job.
• Integrated media rollers and roll angles load your vinyl straight and keep your media on track, even when cutting at top speed.
• Ethernet Port for reliable and network connection

Build quality and engineering

The S2 D160 has been designed with great attention to tracking which is essential for accurate cutting. To achieve this it uses Summa’s newly patented MicroSprocke grit roller which tightly controls media.

The cutter is milled from from the finest materials in a unique process assuring each roller has an exacting diameter, Summa then specially coat each roller to eliminate the risk of wear and oxidation which could degrade tracking over time.
