Transport and Works Order Printing - let us take the strain
When new Railway or Tramway schemes are planned in England and Wales the order is made under the Transport and Works Act 1992 (TWA) and is made to the Secretary of State or the Welsh Government.
Once the application is made the TWA procedure must be followed to allow those interested or affected to raise concerns or objection before the Secretary of State or the Welsh Government take their decision.
So what’s that got to do with us? Quite a bit because we’re very good at it. The TWA is a printed submission and has many stages. Not only is the information key to the application at each stage but also the submission timelines and list of recipients.
A TWA order process can be made up of thousands of documents, drawing, photos and appendixes that need to be clear, accurate and informative but also easy to navigate and reference. Clearly marked bespoke folders and well laid out document schedule help deliver this.
There are many contributors to these type of submissions so good design is essential to pull it all together and not have it present like a collection of separate projects. Content may arrive as Word documents, Excel sheets, PDF’s, Jpegs, CAD Drawings even emails so having a pre planned template to work to is a must. Due to the scale of these projects content can also be held with legal to the very last minute and one of our strengths is being able to work directly with all parties to ensure we all hit the deadline.
Security is a given with the nature of the documents but there also needs for document tracking and evidential proof of delivery.
We are also strong with Data management which forms part of every submission, again this can come from several sources so a solid understanding of how to handle it and the legal process, which must be followed makes what could be a daunting process deliverable.
Once we have all the information, an approved design, legal signoff and a deadline we can then do what we do best, print. It’s not just colour documents, plans and photographs but hand made folders to fit the content, branded for the submission. Reinforced edges on the drawing so they don’t get damaged or removed when being examined. Bespoke tab dividers linked with the document schedule across multiple volumes as well a USB/digital version fixed within the submission.
We don’t stop there either, what’s the point of pulling all this information together, making it look amazing only to have it damaged whilst being delivered. We not only carry a huge range of single and double wall boxes across a range of sizes but we can also print and cut specific packing to fit the submission precisely.
All this is done in our Manchester facility where there’s no need for anything to leave the building or be done externally, it’s all controlled and only goes out the door when it’s on it way.
