With a width of 64” The SummaCut S2 T160 is the largest of Summa’s S Class T Series range of vinyl cutters. It deploys a Tangential Cutting head to achieve even more accurate cuts than its sister range the S2 D which uses drag knife head. For customers demanding high volume cutting across a range of applications including vehicle wrapping, interior décor, label printing this machine makes a compelling investment case.

High Precision Cutting

Having the ability to lift, rotate and re-angle the cutting knife, the S2 T160 re-defines cutting accuracy especially in relation to corners. Precison is further enhanced by the machine applying up to 600 grams of cutting force resulting in accurate cuts even on harder materials such as sandblast. 

Accuracy + Speed = Productivity

One of the most important enhancements over the T160’s predecessor is its new processor which is seven times faster.  This increase in processing power combined with the following features explains how the cutter delivers in the most demanding work environments.

• The cutter incorporates a dual servomotor for speed and accuracy
• A new trim and sheet cut functionality allowing even more efficient integration with large format printers.
• A user friendly touch screen with eight accessible user programs allow rapid job switching and media changes.
• OverCut - extends the vector at the beginning and at the end of a curve. This ensures the design is cut through completely. Without the OverCut function, the cut line may not be completely closed, causing difficulties when weeding.
• OptiCut  - simulates tangential cutting. Through repeated use and wear and tear the blade set will change over time. OptiCut compensates for this and makes sure the knife is always orientated correctly so that cutting is consistently accurate during the blades' life span.
• The cutting head includes an automatic cut-off knife, which can be selected as an option to slice your media at the end of each run.
• Integrated media rollers and roll angles load your vinyl straight and keep your media on track, even when cutting at the fastest speeds.
• An Ethernet Port is included to ensure reliable network connectivity.

ENGINEERING Integrity

The S2 T160 has been engineered with great attention to tracking. As this is crucial to accurate cutting Summa have developed and patented the MicroSprocket grit roller.

Milled from the best materials in a unique process assuring each roller has an exacting diameter, Summa then specially coat each roller to eliminate the risk of wear and oxidation which could degrade tracking over time.

OPOS X TECHNOLOGY

Using a newly designed Tagential cutting head the S2 T160 uses OPOS X technology which stands for optical positioning.  A sensor in the cutting head reads registration marks on the media that is being cut. This allows greater accuracy and critically media deformations and misalignments will not cause any cutting errors or the need to reproduce prints, saving time and money.

The cutter is highly versatile and can apply registration marks for contour cutting on standard materials but also on holographic, reflective, or mirroring materials, and on the many different types of modern laminates.
