The purchase of our Xerox Versant 2100 enables us to fill a major gap in the digital print market
On certain occasions “It just can’t be done” is the response to a particular print request. In particular, requests from estate agents regarding the digital printing of a-typical brochures for their more upmarket properties have always been met with a polite “Sorry, but you need a litho printing for that”. As most of you know, when it comes to litho printing, costs are high per unit for smaller print runs of say up to 500 copies, and unit costs only become ‘reasonable’ once you get into the volume ranges measured in thousands.
The problem has not been the technology, it has been the digital printing machines which have, up until now, not been able to facilitate the printing of what is known as A4 6pp, which equates to an A4 four-page folded document. That has all changed and here at the Entwistle Group we are delighted to announce the acquisition of a Xerox Versant 2100 Press.
Beyond the new capability of printing 6pp A4 brochures in High Definition quality, the range of media we can print now using the Xerox Versant 2100 press has also increased. Today we can now print on coated and uncoated papers, bright papers, labels, business cards, glossy brochures, window decals, synthetic/durable paper, tabs and greeting cards, as well as customised solutions from 15lb Bond to 30lb Cover (52-350gsm). Further than this, we are also able to produce an embossed print for additional effect and for adding an extra touch of class.
As part of the ground-up development of the Xerox Versant 2100, powerful colour management technologies have been built into the press. Xerox’s Confident Colour is a combination of the very best colour management technologies that enable the emulation of industry standards including CRACol and Fogra, while also adhering to PANTONE standards, allowing for the accurate match of colours.
Ultra HD is now the industry standard for digital printing, and Xerox machines have been capable of delivering printed media at a 2400 x 2400 dpi resolution. This upgrade now sees an Ultra HD RIP resolution with data sent to the press at up to 1200 x 1200 x 10 dpi, which moves one even closer to producing offset-like output.
Xerox’s compact belt fuser permits the maintenance of superior image quality on stocks up to 350 gsm. This is the result of the fuser using uniform heat and pressure transfer technology which subsequently optimize image quality features including solids, tints and halftones.
Other features of the Xerox Versant include:
What all this means for customers at the Entwistle Group is the option of litho-quality printing but with smaller print runs than have previously been required to be cost effective, or affordable.
