The HP T1600 36-in multifunctional printer is HP’s latest addition to its T series range and replaces the long serving T930 and T1530. It’s been designed to meet the requirements of medium sized companies in the construction, architectural and engineering sectors as well as smaller print shops. It is available in four configurations; single roll non PostScript, dual roll non PostScript, single roll PostScript and dual roll PostScript.

WHICH AREAS HAVE THE ENGINEERS FOCUSED ON?

Security and printing performance including speed have been the primary focus of HP’s engineers when they designed the T1600. Productivity has been increased by almost 40% thanks to the cutter now being separated from the print carriage, this means the print carriage spends more time printing instead of wasting valuable time cutting. This one improvement means that instead of the 120 A1 prints per hour that could be achieved on the T930 and T1530, the T1600 can now produce 180 A1 prints per hour.

PRINT Speed

To start with the T1600 has a first page out time of just 29 seconds which is the fastest in the market place. An A1 sheet can be printed in as little as 19.3 seconds using a combination of Fast mode and Economode.

The printer has the capability to meet printing volumes of up to 150 m ² per month for single roll machines and 300m ² for dual roll machines.

Print resolution is 2400 x 1200 optimized dpi and uses a 6 cartridge system with a choice of ink cartridge sizes of 130ml or 300ml for extended printing.

SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS TO THE HP T1600

The security measures built into the T1600 have greatly improved the machines ability to fend off cyber attacks and hacking. Printers are often the weakest link on any network which is why HP has incorporated embedded device security that monitors attacks. Multilayer user authentication protects data and documents from being deleted whilst a Firewall and a self-encrypting Hard Drive and Secure Disk Erase further strengthen security.

MEDIA LOADING AND STACKER

With an automatic front loading roll feed, the T1600 accepts a wide range of wide format media including Bond and Coated Papers, Technical Papers, Photo papers, Films, Self Adhesive, Banner and sign materials. DR (dual roll) models have smart roll switching and can accommodate rolls up to 90m x 914mm.

The stacker can handle A0 – A4 has the capacity for 100 A1 sheets.

INKS AND PRINTHEADS

The printer uses a 6 colour system:

• Magenta
• Cyan
• Yellow
• Photo black
• Matte black
• Grey

Two sizes of ink cartridges are available, 130ml and for extended printing 300ml. A single universal print head is deployed.
